Our History :: Joseph Tullio started Tullio Hair Studio nearly 34 years ago in 1975 aspiring to create a quality name for himself in the hair dressing industry.
Since he was 14 years old, he apprenticed in a salon in Sora, Italy. During this time, he graduated from L’Oreal and Wella International Schools in Rome. In order to get to the U.S., his father, who was a farmer, sold his best cow to afford Joseph’s plane ticket. He arrived in New York and settled in Schenectady near his relatives.
In l975 he opened his first hair salon. He continued his education at the Vidal Sassoon Academies in both New York City and Los Angeles. He became a platform artist for the Paul Mitchell Company and traveled the United States sharing his knowledge with other hair stylists and introducing Paul Mitchell Hair Care Products.
After operating his own private salon for 17 years, he moved his operations to Rotterdam Square Mall in Rotterdam, New York, providing world-class service in a shopping center. Five years later he opened another salon in Crossgates Mall in Albany, New York.
Today, Joseph is still working hard in the business that he has always loved and been passionate about for over 40 years. He has two daughters currently interested in continuing the business. Nina, in the creative design field and Noelle, on the business side.
